Gionee A1 & A1 Plus Selfie-Centric Smartphones with 4GB RAM Launched at MWC 2017

Earlier this month, Gionee announced to launch the new A-series smartphones at the Mobile World Congress. Today, the company has officially unveiled the two new smartphones – Gionee A1 and A1 Plus. Both the devices come with unibody metal design and sports high-end specification. The devices run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the highly customized Amigo 4.0 UI on top. Much like any other Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Gionee is now coming with the selfie-centric smartphones.

The Gionee A1 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display whereas the A1 Plus sports a larger 6-inch IPS display with the same Full HD resolution. There is also 2.5D glass on top of both the devices. Under the hood, the A1 Plus is powered by the 64-bit Helio P25 octa-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz and coupled with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. On the other hand, the Gionee A1 comes with the Helio P10 octa-core processor that was first announced in 2015. The A1 and A1 Plus comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage.

In the camera department, the Gionee A1 comes with a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 16MP selfie camera with the same f/1.0 aperture. Coming to the Gionee A1 Plus, it sports dual-lens camera setup on the rear with 13MP and 5MP sensors with an aperture of f/2.0 and f/2.2 respectively. For selfies, Gionee is offering a whopping 20MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture on the A1 Plus. Both the devices include LED flash on front and back for capturing better selfies in low-light conditions. One unique feature on these devices is the integration of the IR Blaster into the LED flash on the rear.

With the all these high-end specifications, the Gionee A1 Plus is backed by a huge 4,550mAh battery, where the Gionee A1 with a smaller display come with 4,010mAh battery. The devices support ultrafast charging with the built-in dual charging chips The physical home button on the front also comes integrated with a fingerprint sensor. The Gionee A1 is priced at EUR 349 (approx $370 / Rs. 24,500) and will be on sale starting from next month, whereas the Gionee A1 Plus with much superior specification costs EUR 499 (approx $530 / Rs. 35,000) and will be available only from April.
