The Gionee Elife S8 will be officially unveiled on February 22nd at the MWC. While the company hasn’t mentioned any specifications of the device, we already got few details from the benchmarking sites. Though it is mentioned the device to come with a 4.6-inch display, we haven’t believed since we felt it to be too small. But from the image posted by Yu Lei, VP of Gionee; the device looks to be under 5-inches. The design also looks premium with the all metal body compared to the glass back panel on the Elife S7.
The 16MP rear camera is on the top left along with an LED flash and Laser Auto Focus. According to the company, the camera on Elife S8 is said to offer ‘new era of mobile photography.’ The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right edge of the device. While we aren’t sure, there might be a physical home button on the front with an integrated fingerprint sensor for making the Elife S8 a bit more secure.
It comes with Super AMOLED display and is powered by a MediaTek P10 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Along with 16MP rear camera, there is also an 8MP front camera that can capture some awesome selfies. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with latest Amigo UI overlaid.
As seen with the Elife S7, the 3.5mm audio port is placed on the bottom edge. The network bands are just limited to the top and bottom edges. Apart from the device, talking about Gionee we can see a new logo to be unveiled at the event. Recently, a few other Chinese brands including Coolpad, ZTE, and Meizu came up with new logos.
The official launch of Gionee Elife S8 is just a week away, so stay tuned for the live coverage of the launch from Mobile World Congress 2016.
