Coolpad in collaboration with LeEco will be soon launching its flagship Cool S1 smartphone in China. It is rumored to sport Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. Before to that, the company came up with two new budget smartphones called Coolpad N1 and N1S. Both the devices will be available through China Mobile, China’s largest telecom network. The Coolpad N1 and N1S will come with an all metal body and sports entry-level specifications. While Coolpad N1 costs 799 Yuan, the Coolpad N1S with slightly better specifications is priced at 999 Yuan.
The Coolpad N1 comes with a 5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and 2.5 curved glass on top. It is powered by MediaTek MT6735P quad-core processor clocked at 1.0GHz. The device includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded additionally upto 64GB. There is also 3GB RAM variant with 32GB of internal storage which is yet to be made available. In China, we have seen many other devices to come with much better specifications at this price. It supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM slot.
On the camera front, it has an 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash and a 5MP fixed focus camera. With the basic hardware, the 2,500mAh non-removable battery on the Coolpad n1 can give decent battery life. It measures 142.5 x 70.5 x 7.9 mm and weighs 145 grams. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm audio port, and Micro USB 2.0 port. Right under the rear camera, we can find the fingerprint sensor. The power button along with SIM card slot is placed on right edge while the volume rocker lies on the left edge.
Compared to Coolpad N1, the Coolpad N1s comes with a slightly different design, both the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge on the N1S. It comes with a larger 5.5-inch On-cell display with the same HD resolution and 2.5D glass on top. Under the hood, the N1S comes powered by Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor clocked 1.4GHz and coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. It packs 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. While the front camera remains same with the 5MP sensor, the rear camera comes with a 13MP sensor instead of 8MP sensor.
With a bigger form factor, the Coolpad N1S includes a slightly bigger 3,000mAh non-removable battery that can give more than a day long battery life. This device also supports dual SIM dual standby and offers same connectivity options as on Coolpad N1. The Coolpad N1S measures 152.6 x 76.3 x 8 mm and weighs 170 grams. Unlike the N1, the N1s also includes Electronic compass and Gyro sensors on top of the basic sensors. Almost at a similar price, Coolpad launched the Note 5 in India much more superior specifications.
As seen with the Cool series devices, both the Coolpad N1 and N1S run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based LeEco’s eUI. The devices also offer the LeEco’s exclusive content including the live streaming, music, sports, and events. Both the devices will be available in Silver and Rose Gold color options. We don’t expect the company to launch these devices outside of China. Recently, the company launched the Coolpad Note 3S and Mega 3 smartphones in India priced at Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 6,999 respectively. The Coolpad Mega 3 comes with triple SIM slots and another slot for a MicroSD card. Both the Note 3S and Mega 3 are exclusively sold through Amazon India.
