Asus has recently launched a new smartphone, i.e., Zenfone Zoom priced at Rs 36,999. It has a 5.5-inch IPS display with 401 PPI, 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection. It comes powered by Intel Atom Z3590 SoC; Quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz coupled with Power VR G6430 GPU. The device comes with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB as its internal storage and can be expanded upto 128 GB using an external Micro SD Card. It is powered by a 3000 mAh non-removable Li-Poly battery and runs on Android Lollipop 5.1. The device does support a 13 MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash along with 3X optical Zoom and supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilization and Full HD Video recording at 30 Frames per second. The front camera on the device is of 5 MP, which is used to capture better selfies. Asus Zenfone Zoom is a single SIM smartphone and supports 2G/3G/4G connectivity on it. The SIM card supported by the device is a Micro SIM card and is present just above the battery. To insert a SIM card on your Zoom, power off your device and remove the back panel. Now insert the SIM card in the slot as per the marked direction and put back the cover. Now boot your device, you have successfully inserted SIM card on your device.
You can share the internet with others by enabling the tethering/ hotspot option on your device. To enable this on Asus Zenfone Zoom, open the settings, click on More In wireless and networks. Further, click on tethering & portable hotspot and enable the type of hotspot you want to use. In this, you can manually set the password and Network name of the device and also can select the type of security mode.
Screenshot can be captured by pressing the power button along with the volume down button at the same time on your device. The captured screenshot is thus saved on your gallery and can be quickly accessed from the notification panel on your device. If you find difficulty in capturing a screenshot by pressing two buttons then you can use the alternate method which is quite easy when compared to the previous one. In this you need to press and hold the recent menu or the overview menu for about 2-3 seconds to capture a screenshot on your device. The captured image may be a jpeg or a png file depending upon your selection. To customize this option open the settings and tap on Screenshot option in the personal section. Power saving mode is used to increase the battery life in case of low battery conditions. To use this on your device, open the Settings and tap on Power Management in the device section and click on PowerSaver. The device comes with multiple battery modes, i.e., Performance, Normal, Power Saving, Super saving and Customized. Now tap on any of those options and the respective power saving mode is applied on your device.
The device comes in two layouts One layer mode and Two layer mode. One layer mode, It does not include All apps button. So all the apps are available on the home screen and easy to use. Two layer mode, it includes the All app button and is same as that of original Android experience. Yes, LED notification lights are present on your Zenfone Zoom. To use them on your device, open the settings and tap on display in the device section. In the new window, tap on the checkbox adjacent to the LED Indicator to enable on your device.
Screen pinning option is available on every device with Android lollipop in it. Asus Zenfone Zoom comes with Android 5.0 on it. So, if you want to use screen pinning option you need to enable that on your device. To enable this feature on your device, open the setting, further, scroll down advanced and tap on the Screen pinning. Click on the off button to enable it. Yes, there is an option in Asus Zenfone Zoom where you can move apps from internal storage to external storage. All you need to do is open the settings, click on Apps, in the new list of apps, click on the app that you want to move. Further, Tap on move to SD card. Touch gestures help you to access your device by launching the apps with some gestures. These gestures are used in two different modes wakeup mode and suspend mode. To access these gestures on your Asus Zenfone Zoom, Open the settings, click on ZenMotion and Tap on touch gesture. Further, click on Off button to enable this on your device. The different screen on gestures available on this device are you can double tap to suspend/lock the device. To wake up your device, you can again double tap on the screen. Screen Off gesture include W- to launch the browser app, S- to launch the messaging app. The other gestures used in suspended mode are, e- to launch email app, C- to launch the camera app, Z- to launch Asus Boost, and V- to launch the phone.
Shake Shake and Hands up are the motion gesture present on this device. To use this feature on your device, open the Settings, Click on ZenMotion and then tap on Motion gesture. This motion gesture helps you to take the screen shot of the device when you shake it twice and creates a new task to Do it later.
ASUS customization settings help you to customize few option on your device like recent key functions. Easy mode provides you a friendly interface experience with simple layout and core functions. To enable this on your device, Open the settings, head over to personal, and tap on Easy mode.
