The Android N was officially announced to the developers last month by Google, where it came up with some amazing features. We had complied a list of 15 Things to Know About Android N Preview Build. Apart from this we had also started using it on our Nexus 6P Smartphone that had recently been hit with another update, probably the Android Security Patch, but when we checked the build number it was NPC91K. You will be getting the subsequent updates of the Developer builds if you have signed up on the developer.android.com website.
Developer Preview 2
Date: April 2016
Emulator support: x86 & ARM (32/64-bit)
Google Play services: 8.4
First off, the newer build had fixed a lot of issues that were seen in the first version, that included the bugs mentioned below.
- Can’t connect to hidden SSID or non-broadcast Wi-Fi. (bug 203116)
- Microphone mute state persists across activities. (bug 205922)
- Changing multi-window focus pauses YouTube. (bug 203424)
- Direct Reply may close open activity. (bug 204411)
- Various stability fixes.
Lets discuss about whats new in this build. On the Importance note, there’s an update on the Multi-Window, where you can specify a minimum width and height for an activity. Apart from this Downloads & Files are merged into one, that’s welcomed because both separately made no sense. You can also install applications through APK’s on the File Manager and along with this you can find a few more New things in DP2 that you could refer here.
Do make a note that even after installing this new version, we have been finding a lot of issues regularly along the apps crashing. If you plan to install the same do not do it on your Primary Phone and just install on a device you wish to test your applications or the one on which you wish to try out the Android N Features.
